FAQ - Compostable Diaper Service

What is a compostable diaper service? TOP
A compostable diaper service is similar to a cotton diaper service except disposables are used in place of cloth. Each week we provide you with 100% compostable, diposables diapers and wipes. At the end of each week, leave your baby’s used diapers outside and we will pick them up and drop them off at our composting facility, so they never touch a landfill.

How much does compostable diaper service cost? TOP
Nature’s Premiere compost diaper service costs are as follows:
- $39.99 composting fee/month (this fee is waved when using the combo service)
- $16.50 per box of diapers (4 box monthly minimum)
- $5.99 per pack of wipes (2 pack monthly minimum)
**Bulk discount of 10% will be applied to purchases of 4 or more boxes at one time

How does it work? TOP
Once you sign up for service, we will email you with your startup day. On your designated night, we will drop off your diapers and wipes for the week, then swing by the following week and pick them up. It’s that’s simple!

Where do I store the diapers? TOP
Use the green compostable bag provided to line your diaper pail and store your used diapers. Diapers need to be left in the bag since the whole unit must be certified composable to prevent contamination of containers. Since these diapers are the size of a disposables, you can use a standard diaper pail such as Deco, Diaper Genie, etc.

What if I miss a pickup? TOP
Hang onto the diapers. Since they are not cloth they will not get damaged, however they will smell! So try to remember to leave them out, we will also send weekly reminders via email as well.

Can I throw these diapers away? TOP
Theoretically you can, but why? Just because they are 100% compostable does NOT mean that they will break down in a landfill. Compostability of a diaper is determined by many factors, one being under optimal settings. If a diaper (Broody Chick) is tossed in a landfill, it will most likely never break down since it will have tons and tons of garbage on top of it, thus blocking the oxygen needed to break it down. So don’t throw your diaper out, have us compost them!

Can I order diapers to be delivered before baby arrives? TOP
Of course!! We recommend all new parents order service ahead of time to ensure they will have diapers before their baby is born. We do not need much notice on disposables, but the sooner you order the better!

Is there a set up fee? TOP
Unlike the cotton diaper service, there is no setup fee since there is no prepping of the diapers involved. There is sales tax though, but that is standard on all product purchases.

What if I leave an object in with the diapers? TOP
In order for us to be successful at keeping diapers out of the landfill by providing this service, we need your 100% cooperation. Things may happen when you drop non compostable diapers or wipes in the liner, but please take heed that these items cannot break down, thus delaying your baby’s diapers from being composted. Even if the diaper is “greener” such as a seventh generation diaper, it is NOT compostable, so please keep them out of the liner.

Is there a cancellation fee? TOP
There is no cancellation fee if given 1 week notice. If cancelling the end of the week, there is a $10 rush processing fee.

What are the benefits compostable diapers have on the environment? TOP
Compostable diapers are just that...compostable! These diapers, under the right conditions, will break down entirely and be used as compost to sustain and grow living plants and grass, beautify public parks, schools, churches etc. Compostable diapers are never placed in a landfill, so no additional waste is ever accrued. Diapers are composted within 2 months, whereas store brand diapers will likely never break down in its  entirety and if they do, it will take years and years (the baby that wore the diapers would be a parent themselves!). With the growing population and an all time high demand on natural resources to make these diapers, going compostable with Broody Chick is the best option you have for helping keep trash out of our ever growing landfills and creating a greener future for your baby.
